We’ve Been Warned! Join or Die!

Threats by anonymous sources c. 2011!

I MUCH prefer: “Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils.“  ~ Gen. John Starke

In the wake of what appears to be a disappointing Tea Party Forum looking to crown a singular candidate to oppose George Allen in the GOP primary, desperate times call for desperate measures, it seems, over at redstatevirginia.  A recent piece titled:  A Warning to Patriots:  Join or Die motivates readers this way:

My call to you tonight is simply this: join or die. The courtship is over. It’s time to get hitched, and there’s one candidate for U.S. Senate we know for sure has supported us from the very beginning – Jamie Radtke. The other challengers might be good, but not compared to Jamie. Jamie is tested, has proven her dedication to our core principles, and can win in a general election against the Democrat in this coming year. We can do two things to support Jamie right now. First, come out publicly and say your group supports her. Second, reach deep and give a donation to her campaign

Here’s the real head-shaker moment:  “[Jamie] can win in a general election against the Democrat in this coming year”   Seriously.  That claim is  based on what, exactly?

The comment section here is OPEN for business.  Have at it, patriots.   Tell us why Radtke can beat Tim Kaine, without using the words “George Allen” or “career politician.”  Tell us how a political gadfly with no business experience, carrying a large campaign debt to establishment-type consultants, who cannot seem to obtain support of even half of the members of her local tea party, whose organization can’t wrestle up more than 50 supporters for  last weekend’s ‘important’ tea party forum-  has the goods to beat the former Chair of the DNC, and a former Governor of Virginia, in a US Senate race.

The piece might be more aptly titled:  Join and Die.  Misery loves company, I suppose.

We participated in the forum. There were about 60 people there….about 20 from Roanoke who were MOSTLY disposed to EW Jackson. Mostly is the key word as we have members who like Jamie (just a few) and Allen (just a few). But I don’t think I would want to come out and give them a join or die ultimatum. Most of the tea party groups that profess to be Jamie supporters had very light attendance. I think I smell desperation here. When Jamie was riding high in October of 2010….few could have foretold the future. The fact she would alienate so many patriot groups and the GOP establishment AT THE SAME TIME. That is quite an accompishment. Jamie couldn’t beat Allen in a primary OR Kaine in the general as both of them would rip her to shreds in debates and will have ample resources to blunt any of the attacks she could launch against them. The only candidate that can take the attack to Allen and Kaine is Jackson.

Ok then, I will not indicate George Allen. I’ll just, “Allen”. I will not “politician” either that’s generally criminally poison. Don’t know about Kaine but I am sure Ms Radtke knows that
“Allen” has the ability of a paper/plastics shredder to verbally abuse any opposition. Remember how he verbally abused Chuck Robb during a media event at The Homestead while trying to take Robb’s seat? All the while a President’s Daughter sitting close by. I am not trying to stir the pudding here. Just saying, Do not loose sight that a champion with skills that are above or equal to “Allen” is Jackson. “AND” Two things, !. Folks are more concerned about what comes out if one’s mouth rather than kind of person/voting record. 2. “Remember”, Our effort should be to keep Kaine out. “We do not need Kaine again”.

And Kaine’s camp could be “We don’t need Allen again”…..I will wait-and probably be waiting forever- for the RTD to actually examine once and for all these two men’s Governorship and provide people with the facts regarding the net results and highlight the trickery used in the numbers but than I guess that would expose the entire ruling class in Richmond to outright embarrassment. During Bob’s tenure we have seen the raising of the VRS in order to make the budget look (“look”) clean…..thyis is hardly a “conservative” approach do leadership and yet we conservatives want to simply give those in the GOP like Bob a pass on what they have done in this matter. Of course, they will tell you they wanted to save us the pain, Frankly, I think they always seek to medicate thier own pain first.

Chip, were you (as leader of your group) aware in advance that the guy who organized the tea party forum in Natural Bridge contributed the not small amount of $1,500 to Radtke, and that the candidates were provided with all the questions in advance?

Who do you think that would benefit most?

I don’t know….when some of these tea party leaders complain about the heavyhandedness of the AP, and of the establishment, do they pause to think about what they are doing as well?

I agree with Noah! We must defeat Kaine. I still have not read any responses as to why the Federation is so adamant that their former leader is qualified to do the job, let alone how she is more qualified than Donner, or Jackson.

I didn’t know the amount but I am not surprised by that fact. The event sure smelled like an attempt to help out Jamie. I wouldn’t have trekked up there with our peeps if EW hadn’t asked us to go and some of our other local leaders wanted a show of unity and they asked me to participate. EW can run circles around Jamie in a debate format so I was hopeful some of the Jamie folks in attendance could see this for themselves….

I don’t think this group will succeed in annointing a candidate…unless its Jackson, as I have already let the organizer and everyone else involved know that I will not endorse Jamie under any circumstances. And Donner just hasn’t caught on out here…especially after his dismal performance at the Verona debate.

The bridge back to me supporting Radkte has been burned, blown up and nuked to the stone age. I would vote for her in a primary if she was the only candidate against Allen, but that is how much I loathe an Allen candidacy. But I am not going out and working for her. Period. I told the organizers that, in almost those exact words. I’ve told Jamie that in almost those exact words.

That being said the oragnizers still wanted us to participate…..I suppose that they are used to groups that are willing to compromise on principle at some point. They are barking up the wrong tree if they think that is going to happen with us.
